Sugar, as my dad would say “silent but deadly”…or was that for something else…. Either way sugar is a killer!
You wouldn’t believe what you were putting into your bodies or even worse your children’s. I didn’t believe it either until I watched the documentary called That Sugar Film whilst I was on a flight back from my holiday in Bali.
THAT SUGAR FILM, released in 2015 it has opened my eyes to the effects of sugar, not the bright white crystals that people know is harmful and have already taken the steps to cut of their life and coffees, The hidden sugar that is found in “healthy food”.
“Australian actor Damon Gameau embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy’. Through this entertaining and informative journey, Damon highlights some of the issues that plague the sugar industry, and where sugar lurks on supermarket shelves. Damon’s journey to discover the bitter truth about sugar will forever change the way you think about ‘healthy food’.
Education is something we shove down the throats of our children from an early age, but at the same time our lack of knowledge is what could be killing them and ourselves, in reality what we are really putting in their bodies is harmful in many ways.
I began to watch the film on my flight back home after a long 2 and a half weeks of “healthy holiday eating” I was sipping on my healthy choice of orange juice instead of a clearly bad choice of soft drink. I finished the film in shock I went from orange juice to water and haven’t looked back since.
Within my job I talk to people everyday about there weight-loss and when I get to the question what are your eating habits a lot of them would say I eat healthy and they are often confused on why their weight wont shift. Many people believe what they are eating is healthy, it is not their fault that supermarkets and companies are tricking everyone into think they are making healthy choices when in fact they are unwilling feeding them self’s as much sugar as a soft drink.
I don’t want to go into to much detail as I think the movie is fantastic at explaining the amount of sugar that really is found in “healthy foods” and even how it has been hidden under research that is funded buy companies such as Coke-a-Cola or Mountain Dew who quoted “Mountain Dew can be a part of a healthy food diet, when consumed in moderation” When the ingredients are as additive as cocaine “consuming in moderation” can be difficult especially for children.
I recommend everyone either watches this film or reads the book as it could down right change your life… FOR THE BETTER!
After you have watched this film please don’t hate me for changing your view on your “healthy choices”
